Dr Panda And Toto’s Treehouse App

It’s up to your preschooler to take care of this most adorable baby turtle. He has needs like any other baby. Someone to play with him, food to be prepared and someone to ensure he stays clean and to tell him when it’s time for bed.As you might of figured out by now this app is all about a virtual pet.

The learning that takes place in Dr Panda and Toto’s Treehouse involves cause and effect, taking note and acting on the needs of others, (here being the baby turtle) and the following through of basic living skills such as ensuring cleanliness, enough food, sleep and physical activity. There are no goals here other than to take care of Toto. If you don’t listen and act on his needs he simply keeps reminding you or will fall asleep if he just can’t wait any longer to be put to bed. Other than that the game certainly has a lot of open ended play throughout it.The expressions that they have managed to get Toto doing are to melt for. I couldn’t help but laugh at his face when he was watching the ice-cream being made, very child like.

The game has a map that is accessible and easy for kids to follow. If a child wishes to take Toto to one of the four rooms, they simply touch that part of the map. The graphics are stunningly beautiful and highly appealing to young children.

In an updated version I would love to see another animal introduced adding more a time management element to challenge beyond keeping Toto happy. While this is fun in itself, this would give a longer life to the app and appeal to kids a touch older.
Requires iOS 6.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Optimized for iPhone 5.
