I first fell in love with these guys back in 2011 when my children started kindergarten. Back then it was their Reading Eggs program that got my attention. Now, it’s Mathseeds, and there is good reason why.
Mathseeds is an online mathematics program aimed at children aged 3 to 6 years. I started using Mathseeds becuase my son got no joy out of maths. You could say it’s not his first… or second love so would try to avoid it at all cost. This was a concern, because the more kids avoid maths, the more difficult it becomes to keep up!
Mathseeds was the answer. It’s vibrant, full of funny characters, dynamic to keep kids attention, has appealing colourful themes, engages kids and is very cute… and I haven’t even mentioned the educational benefits yet!
Don’t let Mathseeds fool you. There’s mountains of learning going on behind the devine exterior. Your child will be exposed to an array of mathematical concepts such as counting, numeral and number word recognition, one to one correspondence, different number text types, addition, matching, shape, pattern creation, sorting… the list goes on.
While Mathseeds understands that repetition is a very powerful teacher, it takes mathematical concepts and reinforces them to the child in a variety of ways. It builds a great foundation for the preschooler and early school starter learning maths, and has won a place on the desktop of my home and classroom.
