Paint Sparkle App
By Kids Games Club
Age Recommendation 4+ years.
While the educational merit of this app is not inline with apps that encourage skills such as numbers and letters, it certainly has it’s place in encouraging creativity in your child.
The free version is more than worth a look, as too the $4.49 it would cost you to get all content. In the free version your child has access to crayons, rollers and our family favourite, stars. It also gives you a fair few drawings to colour in. If you pay however, you then have access to 230 colouring pages and a variety of painting utensil such as flowers, bricks and hearts.
Paint Sparkles lives up to it’s name having quite a magical feel. As kids draw, musical notes are played, along with what looks like star dust appearing, both adding to the fun element. There is also a wand that when touched, will randomly choose the colours for you.
Created pics are easily saved with the touch of a button. My kids like to make their pictures the wallpaper on the iPad. Always makes me smile to see that it has magically changed.
I believe that all painting apps should give the child the choice to either colour or create their own picture from scratch. Paint Sparkles certainly does this.
Another feature I love about this app is that kids can use many fingers at the one time on the screen, and it will register.
When my daughter aged seven opens up a paint app, this is the one she goes to first.
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch & iPad.Requires iOS 4.3 or later.
